Okim having this exact same issue, i have a MX, and ive tried installling both windows xp, and windows xp pro, and installed countless drivers, i have found only ONE that will load the driver and recognize the chip, however i still waasnt able to get the sound working, the tech support agent then reffered me to another driver, i still have not found a solution, this is the biggest pain in the asterisk ive ever had working cinexant a system.

Thanks guys, I now have wirless up and running. Manually updated driver using driver from Gateway It looks very nice on the bright screens.

Alternatively try updating the audio driver in device manager. Are you new to LinuxQuestions. Move on to post install notes.
